I have no financial interest, but I love the idea. :D

The Demise of the Kitchen Spider

I had a pan of water on the stove so I could make some tea. I went to check it, and see a dead spider floating in it. I think it's the one that lowers itself over the stove whenever I'm cooking. It's one of a few small barn spiders around my house, which I try to leave to their own devices. They do a pretty good job of keeping the bugs to a minimum.

As sad as it is, I guess it's just natural selection. A spider with an affinity for boiling pots wasn't a positive member of the gene pool. ;p

Hang up and drive!

I had an aggravating moment when I was out running. Someone in an SUV talking on a cell phone made a turn right in front of me, and I nearly bumped into the back of the vehicle. I had to make this awkward sidestep to miss it. I have no doubt that if I were two steps further forward, I would've been hit.

Mini-rant on "intelligent design"

Natural selection is the best answer science has to offer on the origin of species. That's why it's taught in science classes.

Any answers offered by religion should be limited to classes on religion.

Is logic too much to ask?

The haiku I promised

Yeah, we're slackers.

I know that we've been bad about updates as of late. We are working on it. I've been a little busy on a fiction project that I'm sure our regular reader(s) would appreciate. ;p

Plus, I promise a new haiku this weekend. :D

It's haiku time again!

It's a lucky life to have!

Re: Blow your life

Who says that life sucks? ;p

Yet another haiku

I'm feeling pretty proud of myself.

I wanted to see how much my gas mileage would improve with just a few small changes to my driving habits. I quit hard acceleration, and reduced my highway cruising speed by 2 MPH. It's hardly a sacrifice, because I didn't seem to lose more than a minute or so from any of the trips I normally take.

I was pretty surprized by the results. by my estimates, I'm saving at least 3 gallons of gas a month. At current prices, that ain't too shabby. ;p

I'm willing to bet that the aggressively-driven pickup trucks and SUV's that are so common around here would probably benefit a lot more than I did in my little car.
